Question: Do you also serve honesdale area? I have a mom who has Dementia and my dad is getting exhausted doing all the household duties...
  Reply:

We do not currently service the Honesdale area.   It is a little north of our regular service territory.   What I would suggest is that you reach out to either Pike County Area Agency on Aging or Bon Secour Hospital.  Both of these locations should be able to provide you with a list of providers that do serve the town of Honesdale.   Depending on your parent's resources, Pike County Area Agency on Aging may also be able to provide some financial support.

 Thank you for inquiring!

Question: I have a resume I would like to submit. There isnt any way to download it on the application. Is there an email I cam sent it to? Thanks

Absolutely!   You can complete it online through our website using this link:  http://www.beckncall.net/Employment.asp

or you can send a resume to me at Melissa@beckncall.net , and I will forward it to the Human Resource Manager.

Question: we are going on vacation for a week in July, my mom will be there for meals, but we will need someone there to help get him up and dressed . My father in law is 88yrs old, mod/severe dementia. So i would need someone in the morning for maybe 2-3 hrs to help for a week.

This is another great example of what we do!   We would be happy to provide temporary services to your loved one while you are away.    It would be important to set up an appointment in advance so that the initial paperwork can be completed, and the plan of care would be developed.   Then just before you leave for your trip the schedule can be confirmed.   Once you return home, the services can be cancelled until you need to use the service again.

If your loved one has a set routine and is sometimes fearful of change or new faces, then we recommend scheduling some services for the week or so before you leave so that your loved one has the opportunity to get to know the caregiver, and the caregiver has the opportunity to learn the routine.

It is wonderful that you are thinking and planning this far ahead to accommodate the needs of your loved one and we look forward to the opportunity to help!

Question: My mother lives in Northampton County PA and is interested in Beck N Call. Could she choose her own HHA/CNA to care for her?
  Reply:

When we come out to meet with you and your Mom, we would discuss at length the kind of caregiver and kind of services you are looking to receive.   We then make selections of caregivers based on skill and availability, geography, and a variety of other factors.   If for some reason, your Mom does not really connect with a caregiver, a new caregiver can always be introduced until we find a good fit.

We work very hard to ensure the best possible caregiver selection, but certainly if your Mom has some particular needs in caregiver, we are open to other ideas on how to make the best selection so she is happy with the services.

Question: I am caring for my elderly Mom who had a stroke? Am I able to seek compensation for taking care of her? I live in New York.
  Reply:

Great question!   Difficult answer.   It depends!

There are some programs through the Area Agency on Aging that used to pay for a family member to be a caregiver.   I am not certain of whether or not such a program exists in the state of New York.   What I can urge you to do is make a call to your local Area Agency on Aging and inquire about caregiver programs that exist and in which programs your Mom might qualify to participate.

Area Agencies on Aging are a great resource for a whole host of benefits including prescription assistance, caregiving services, meals, and transportation.   Lean on them for guidance.

Question: This is concerning my parents, who still live at home, but now need some assistance. I think they could use help with meals, personal grooming, daily checks on their status and medication, and they should no longer have to drive for shopping, doctor's appointments, etc. I'm not sure what help is available or how to find it. Can you help with this?
Reply: Non-medical homecare agencies can certainly help with meals, personal grooming, daily checks on them, and medications. Driving services vary greatly from agency to agency, so it would be important to bring that discussion into the mix whenever you inquire with a particular agency. At Beck 'N Call, it can absolutely be included the services. It would be your choice to let a caregiver drive your parent's car, or the caregiver can run errands (without your parents) in the caregiver's car, or Beck 'N Call can provide a caregiver AND a vehicle to take your parents for appointments and shopping.
